Demand for occupational health services continues to rise across Melbourne, and at Workforce Health Assessors (WHA), we are committed to expanding our capability to support businesses where they need us most. Following the opening of our Laverton clinic, the response from local industries has been incredible! Demand has surged, and to keep pace with the needs of local businesses, we are growing right alongside them with our new Melbourne clinic location. Among the team leading the charge at this state-of-the-art facility is Jessy, one of our dedicated assessors! Over the past two months, Jessy has been bringing a unique blend of genuine enthusiasm, adaptability, and high-energy candidate care to workforce medical assessments every single day. We sat down with Jessy to learn more about what fuels her passion for occupational and allied health, her secret to putting candidates at ease, and her top watchlist picks. A Passion Rooted in Human Performance Jessy’s journey into allied health stems from a deep, personal curiosity about how the body functions at its best. “My interest in Allied Health was inspired by my curiosity about health, fitness, and the ways the body can perform and improve,” Jessy shares. “I enjoy assessing my own physical capabilities and understanding how different factors can influence physical performance. A career in Allied Health appealed to me because it would allow me to use this interest to support others in achieving their professional goals.” This innate curiosity makes her a natural fit for occupational health medicals, where understanding candidate capability and job demands intersects directly with workplace safety and personal success. A Day in the Life: Preparation & Coffee For Jessy, set-up is everything when it comes to delivering a smooth assessment experience for candidates. Her morning ritual begins with coffee—“or three!”—followed by a deep dive into the day’s candidate profiles and health questionnaires. By reviewing background details early, Jessy identifies key areas to explore before the candidate even walks through the door. “Being prepared allows me to have more meaningful interactions with candidates and helps the day run smoothly and efficiently.” Putting Candidates at Ease Through Connection Workforce medicals can sometimes feel daunting for job applicants, but Jessy thrives on turning those nerve-wracking moments into positive experiences. “What I enjoy most about conducting workforce medicals is the versatility of the role and the opportunity to interact with a wide range of people. I particularly enjoy supporting nervous candidates and helping them feel comfortable and at ease throughout the process. It’s rewarding knowing that even a simple, friendly interaction can help someone feel more confident.” Jessy credits her previous background in sales for sharpening her communication skills, referring to her professional secret talent as being a bit of a “chameleon.” “I adapt my personality and communication style to suit different people and situations, which helps me make people feel comfortable and build rapport quickly. I blame my background in sales for that one haha!” Beyond the Clinic: Quick Recommendations When she isn’t busy conducting assessments, you might find Jessy unwinding with some top-tier screen time.
