In 2021, he relocated to Gladstone, Central Queensland, where he continued working in occupational health for three years within the Alumina Refinery Industry. Reflecting on his career, Curtis shares: “A career in Allied Health has enabled me to prioritise the health and safety of both the employer and employees.” A typical day for Curtis involves conducting pre-employment medical assessments to ensure new hires are fit for duty, performing functional assessments, and carrying out audiometry, spirometry, and drug and alcohol screening. “I enjoy the ability to work autonomously, applying my skills and knowledge while also engaging with people from all walks of life,” he explains. Outside of work, Curtis is a home barista in training, busy perfecting his craft (latte art is still a work in progress!). His must-watch movie? Fight Club!
